7870 upgrade

Hello,

 

I currently have a asus 7870, andi am wondering whether it would be best to upgrade it to a 7970 or get another 7870.

 

I have two monitors, one for photo/video editing and rendering and one for gaming. Both are atleast 1080p.

 

I am currently running a i5 3570k at 3.4 (ivy), asrock z77 extreme 4 (1155) mtb, corsair vengeance 16gb ram, watercooler (ak h2o 620 series), 600 watt psu.

Don't get either.  Wait until the 9000 Series cards have benchmarks released then choose.  Definitely don't get another 7870, that's what I did and there's hardly an FPS increase.  A single 7870 is sufficient for most games at max settings at 1080p.  If you have to buy a new card now then go for a 7970, but otherwise just wait until the new cards are released.

you should wait for the new cards from amd to come out.

The 7870 is a great card, i dont think its worth spending money on the cards that are available. Wait a while a reap the benefits of waiting.
