Any help with NAS ideas?

Hey guys, so I saw that on the back of my modem is a USB 3.0 port, could I plug an external HDD into it and send files to it via the network? Thanks :)

What modem do you have?

 

It probably supports FTP and/or Samba, but I cant confirm that.

Its just a standard att uverse modem with 6 Ethernet ports a power and a USB 3.0 port
