Full-body smart mirror?

Go to solution Solved by Jobbe03,

ahh I didn't think of the fingerprints! and the wardrobe 'try out' is awesome. but yes, suppose the tech is a bit behind. Would you say 10 years before something like this is possible at a "not so crappy" way?

Tough to say, i don't think this exact idea will ever become an actual product, unless you make it.

How come no one has made one yet? is it because it's silly?

I can see people getting ready to go out and using a full body mirror to get dressed. Then use the same mirror to take a picture. but that wouldn't be the only application for it.

You could add Android OS and have your FB/twitter feed on the side (like top right of the mirror) and because it would be android OS you'd have access to Google now and stuff.

I'm not sure what the challenges to something like that would be. but I'd buy one as a gift for my mom. This is where the idea came from, I wanted to gift her a mirror like that but couldn't find anything on the web that met specifications.

so does anyone know what sort of challenges you might face building something like this?

I think I've seen a phone by LG that had like a mirror on the lid that one could interact with (touch) not sure which model was it lol

SPAAAAAACE!!!

That just sounds unnecessary and expensive, the people who take pictures when they get ready to go are usually young, meaning they probably don't have a lot of money.

It would be a limited market, which would then ramp up the price, making no one buy it, which would then cause the product to be discontinued.

I see. but why would it be expensive? and how expensive are we talking about?

Well, the technology just isn't there yet. Ever touched a mirror? Instant fingerprint.

I'd assume you'd have to use some sort of over head projector with a sensor for touching, And that'd just make it uncomfortable to use.

What would be more interesting, is if you could catalog your wardrobe, and then 'try' stuff on while standing in front of the mirror. However, there's a lot of tech that would need to catch up to make it not crappy.

eh, cba. I just wanted to buy one for mom :(

although if my little brother pays attention in class he could code for it in, say, 4-5 years.

and I'm not so bad with hardware.. idk, seems like a lot of money and work lol.

thx for the input, guys.

I know a few shops that offered that service, but used a large monitor rather than a mirror.

I highly doubt mirrors will have that functionality ever. They are just glass with thin metal coating on one side. So naturally better would be human sized monitor with camera. After that the things get much easier as virtual reality and over head displays etc. are already a thing.
