Boot issues after installing second GPU *UPDATE 16/1*

*Update in bottom*

Yesterday I bought and installed another Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X. Prior to purchasing I used two sites to calculate my power needs to make sure my PSU is enough.

Install went smoothly, it was seated properly and both 6 and 8 pin cables were firmly secured.

However, during boot there was no signal, no error codes, and for some reason my peripherals didn't work, and I couldn't turn off my PC using the front switch.

I tried the following:

1. Unplugged my PC and removed everything except the MOBO, CPU, and 1 stick of RAM, plugged my monitor into the built-in GPU - no luck.

2. Unplugged my PC, disconnected the monitor, removed the battery for a few minutes while installing removed components, then put it back in and attempted to boot - no luck.

3. Repeated number 2, except this time I tried booting with both cards - no luck.

4. Repeated number 3 with a single card - no luck.

5. Tried the above with a GPU a friend lent me - no luck.

3.Unplugged my PC, removed the GPU, installed all other components and plugged into built-in GPU, removed the battery, went to bed and tried again this morning - success! I'm here asking for help.

PC specs:

Windows 8.1 64bit

Intel Core i5-4670K at stock speed

Asus Gryphon Z87

Patriot Signature Line 8GB(4x2) 1600Mhz DDR3

Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 290 Tri-X 4GB

Seagate Barracuda 2TB

CoolerMaster V6GT CPU Cooler

SeaSonic M12II 850 SS-850AM 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Full-Modular Active PFC

Corair 200R PC Case

Now with my BIOS reset and a fresh OS install, how should I proceed?

Update 16/1

3 days ago I replaced my motherboard with a brand new Asus ROG Maximus VII Ranger and attempted to play Battlefield 4. It worked fine, no issues, but when I attempted to play Watch Dogs, I experienced a crash to solid color and once again my PC would not boot, it turned itself on and off.

Yesterday I attempted to boot with one stick and it worked, I tested several games and experienced no crashes.

Today I attempted to insert another stick to both the original slot and the one next to it and once again it would not boot, no matter which sticks I inserted, the motherboard displayed error code 55, which according to the user guide means "Memory Not Installed".

The only way I can boot with more than one stick is if I use one 1600 stick, and one 1333 stick, right next to each other.

Using two 1600, or two 1333 with either slot results in the same error.

TL;DR: Can't boot with two identical RAM sticks in either slot, error code is 55 "memory not installed".

One stick at either speed inserted to either slot works fine, or two different sticks in close proximity.

All slots work fine, all sticks work fine on their own.

Hey, i have no clue whats up with your computer, but.. i would say check all your cables, and make sure they are not damaged nor removed/are in the right place. But because you re-set your whole computer just go on as usual, but if nothing happens then check their is no corrupted data on your computer, if this does not work then just take it into a computer expert.

Alright time for an update:

I attempted 3 restarts with the built-in gpu, all three succeeded.

Then I turned off my PC, Unplugged it and inserted my original GPU into its original PCI-E slot and plugged in the original power cable - didn't work, black screen.

I turned off my PC and unplugged it, moved the card to the bottom slot and this time plugged in a different power cable - success!

Next I'm going to attempt original slot with new cable, we'll see what happens.
