This Is a big step for me... My first PC build for the long haul. I will be using it for high end gaming and somewhat major editing as I am hopefully going full time with my graphic design business very soon! exciting times indeed! So my question to you, the Linus community... What do you think? I'm feeling confident that I'm on to something here but Is there anything I should change or any recommendations you may have? I was originally set on a £1000 ($1500) build but went slightly over budget just to equate for windows etc. but overall I'm pretty happy, my only uncertainty is the motherboard as it was a bit of a last minute decision but I know msi are reliable.

I don't have the best knowledge when It comes to all of this but I have done a lot of research and I think I'm ready! :)

That's really good. I think that's the best I've seen from someone who hasn't built a computer before. The only thing I notice is that there is no PSU.

Fixed! My bad :)

Build looks good for that price range , only thing i have comment on it is about that you could get 4x4 combination if you are not planning for an upgrade over that size,

Plus your PSU is missing :/

Details separate people.

You really think so? Wow, thanks man! Really appreciate the feedback. As I say I did a tonne of research to see what my best options were to suit my needs. Really had to push my budget to its limit to meet those needs though!

Man you don't know how times we here have seen something like a $600 build with an i7 or a high-end graphics and shit components elsewhere. This is nicely balanced and shows how well your research is.

Well thanks! As for PSU I think I'm going for the Corsair 700w although I'm not entirely sure http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/FLvLqs

The psu is far too large. Go with something around 520W.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

PSU's are generally most efficient when you hit 80% capacity. Doing the math for 362W under load, it comes to about 550-600W. I would look for one in that range.

Ok, will do. Don't think I'll be expanding on the build in a hurry so yeah, 600 should be fine

That's clears everything for a good build , & for a 970 i'd recommend a 550-600 watts maximum PSU, in real scenario the peak power draw from is maxed out at 350watts & the rest pretty sufficient for the rest of your components

Is your budget now £1100 or so ?

That MSI board doesn't support SLI. If you plan on adding a 2nd card in the future you will need a different board.

The Corsair Builder isn't that good. I would suggest a better psu.

i7 4790K over the i7 4770K.

The H100i has issues with Win 8.1.

I would go with something like this.

If you don't plan on SLI then you can go with a 500W-550W psu and a cheaper board.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£244.94 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Nepton 240M 76.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  (£79.50 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£89.99 @ Novatech)
Memory: Kingston Beast 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory  (£118.45 @ More Computers)
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£77.98 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  (£278.99 @ Ebuyer)
Case: NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£89.99 @ Amazon UK)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  (£71.60 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £1178.54

Yes, the budget didn't include windows initially but I decided to throw it in and I didn't mind the excess with the components that took me over budget, unless you have any recommendations that would bring that cost down? And specifically, what would you recommend in the PSU and MoBo department? What is the issue with the H100i?

Hmm, ok I see where you're going. It's worth mentioning that aesthetics do play a factor in this build and I'm not a big fan of red -No offence, I see you're a Manchester Utd. Fan! :P My setup consists of white, black and blue so that was my aim.

The Corsair link software doesn't work too well out of the box with windows 8.1. You can have issues like pink led's and lack of fan control. It can be fixed with a bit of messing about, but going with a different cooler solves the issue.

I tend to avoid Corsair power supplies due to them being overpriced for what you get.

Are you planning on running two graphics cards ?

Well as long as you're not a Man City fan then no offence taken  :D

I can try and do a White, Black and Blue spec.
