Today I've built myself a new pc - everything went/works fine apart for the system will no longer recognize my USB headset that was working perfectly with my old system. I've tried swapping to different USB ports, but it's the same message for each port, I've also tried various solutions on the internet to no avail.

The headset is the Razer Megalodon.

My current (new) motherboard is the Asrock Z97 Extreme4.

My old motherboard was a Gigabyte board (don't know the model number, was for an AMD cpu though)

I briefly got the headset to work after doing a fresh install of windows (it was recognized as  USB Audio Device), but since a restart it's not having it anymore.

Do you guys know of any solutions to my problem? Any 'fixes' I could try?

The only solution I can think of is sending the board back and exchange for a Gigabyte (as it was previously working on this brand) - but I really don't want to do this as it'll be a lot of hassle.

Apologies if this is the wrong sections, wasn't sure where to post it.

Thanks very much

3 possible reasons, USB driver issue, USB issue (Controller or power issue), or perhaps the headset was damaged at some point.

I'd also recommend your next headphone purchase to be one that isn't USB.

INTEL CORE i5-7600K | ASUS ROG STRIX B250i GAMING | CRUCIAL BALLISTIX SPORT LT 16GB | EVGA GTX 970 SC | EVGA B3 550W

Are you using the USB ports on the motherboard, or the USB ports on the front? If you're using the front, check to see that they are hooked up to the motherboard. If your using the back, verify that the ports actually work. If they work, make sure that you set your default sound device. If your back USB ports don't work, return the motherboard.

Thanks for the suggestions, I managed to solve it, I checked all the ports on the back to see if it would work in any of them, and it works in a port under the Ethernet.

I really appreciate everyone helps!

I can finally start to enjoy my PC :D
