Headphone and Mic suggestions? 3.5mm jacks or usb?

As the title suggests, which one should I go for.

 

I will use the headphones and mic for skype calls, hangouts, teamspeak, etc.

 

My mobo is the x99s sli plus. I listen to most of my music on my speakers, though if the headphones are good I might use them. Also any speaker suggestions would be nice but not mandatory, for now looking for just headphone and mic suggestions.

Yeah I was thinking of mod mic 4.0 plus a really good headset but is getting a usb headset better? Do I "need" an amp?

Not a fan of usb headsets

 

no you dont need an amp/dac or anyting, generally they are only good for $250 headphones and up

439 would be the correct model to recommend because it is the only 400-series set that has a removable cable.

Hey guys, I looked at both Newegg and NCIX, couldn't find the HD 439? Is the Momentum good as well? I can probably get a Mod Mic 4.0 from massdrop so that's not a problem. By the way the mobo runs

So I don't know how may ohm the rear I/o can pull. Also what is the best way to set up the audio on the pc such that it runs off the speakers (my current 2.1 or if I choose to go surround) and then have a switch or such to turn it off once the headphones and mic are connected? I highly doubt I will be taking these headphones outside of my house though.
