Aftermarket CPU cooler

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

an hyper 212 is fine for a good fair bit of overclocking on this cpu, you are very likely to have your overclock limited by the quality of the chip you got than by anything else anyway.

So I just upgraded my cpu to the 4690k and want to get an after market cooler. Mobo is asrock z97 pro3. I would like to poll the community to see what they thought would be the best solution for me.

Some things to note:
1. No water cooling please
2. Under 50$
3. I really liked my old cooler master hyper 212 plus

4. I have a full size case, so size shouldn't be an issue.(corsair 750d)

stick with the 212 Plus

you need to save more for a better cooler

the 212 plus does not fit my mobo

it does, it fit every motherboard, use the provided intel bracket.

The 212 plus should fit your motherboard just fine, the 1150 is the same as 1155 which the 212 can mount on. So it should mount on your mobo.

So I took a look at the mounting bracket and just realized you can slide the screws further away or closer in to fit either size. Damn I feel dumb >.<

Thanks for the help and the quick replies!
