Hello, all. First of all, i'm new in here and 'is my first topic.

So to back on to topic;

I've own both i5 3340 and FX6100 CPU's and yeah, 3340 has better performance on stock values. But i'm not an Intel fan and want to use FX6100 as my main but my m/b for both CPU are entry-level m/b's and not sure how much i can overlock my FX6100 on that entry-level m/b.

Specs for 3340;

M/B: Gigabyte B75M-D3V

RAM: 6GBx2 1600mhz

GPU: MSI Gaming TwinFrozer GTX760

Specs for FX6100

M/B: MSI 760GM-P23(FX)

RAM: 4GBx2 1333MHz (gonna use 6GBx2 on this one too if i can use FX6100 as my main and gonna have to downgrade ram frequency, yeah.)

GPU: same as above, gonna use it.

I wanna know that If i can overclock my FX6100 to a degree that it wont bottleneck my GPU. If i can, i need some instructions to overclock it on that mobo. As far as i've tried, it successes 'till 4.0GHz but that's the most it successed. Anymore than that, it fails in games or in high usage. If i can overclock a bit more, what voltage settings should i use or any other settings to change for higher clock values? It's better to think that i'm begginer in that kind of stuff. So would be better to put it in more detailed words.

Thanks for helps in advance.

The best way is search online for what overclock other people have achieved with the same CPU, and look at their voltage settings.  That will give you a good starting point of how much overclock and how much voltage.  To start, check the LTT OC database for your CPU (in the CPU forum):

After that, you'll try the same thing that other people have said worked for them, and see how you do.  Go same or slightly higher clock speed than what others have done, and try to get it to work by playing with voltages.  always watch temperatures, and be careful not to exceed the max voltage your CPU is rated for.  stress test with Prime95 to check for stability.    do 10 or 15 minute stress tests for each increment to fine tune your voltage.  Once you think you are pretty close to a max stable OC with a voltage and temperature you are happy with, run a longer stress test to check stability.  they say you should be able to run it for 24 hours without any errors.

It's always good to check for detailed overclock guides online, just to be sure you've got all the settings right.  every motherboard and every CPU is a little different, so make sure you don't do something stupid.

Seems i started topic in wrong category, didnt catch my eye at first glance. sorry about that. gonna check that topic for detailed guides.

Thanks for advice, by the way.
