So I just built a brand new PC;

Intel i7-4790k @4.0GHz

ASUS Z97-AR Motherboard

Geforce GTX 970 SC

750W EVGA Power Supply

2TB HDD

Corsair H60 Liquid CPU Cooler

So my question is, what is the safe temperature range? When i first turned on my computer, my CPU was running around 56 degrees. I just want to know what the safe range is so i can keep an eye on it.

56c is a bit high when it comes to idle temperatures. Have you tested temperatures under load? your cpu block may need to be remounted.

I haven't checked that yet, but it was pretty warm in my apartment when i first turned it on.

Above 85 is when I start to worry about my load temps, generally liquid coolers keep your idle temps at about 5-10c ambient so your temp is higher than I would expect.

Will do. What is safe under load? Say, playing Watch Dogs oh full specs.

Safe is under 90, your cpu will shut itself off at 100 but I never like to go above 85.

so what should i do? What would you recommend?

Just run something like AIDA64 and see what your load temperatures are.

Anything over 90 is scary. Anything over 95 is horrid. Mine gets around 55 under load.

idle should be under 40. IMO

So what would you recommend i do to fix this?

better case airflow, better cooler, but first try re-mounting the cooler.

Check the load temperatures, and if they are really high you might have an issue with the way the CPU block is mounted.

So, i didn't remount or anything yet, but i checked and saw that my cpu cooler was loose, so i tightened that. Now it's fluctuating between 34-50 degrees while downloading an update for a game and downloading an entire game while running google chrome and spotify. Would you say that's normal? My room is also roughly 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Once i get Hitman: Absolution downloaded, i was going to run the first mission and see how it did then, but for now, this is what i have.
