1. Budget & Location
My budget for my PC build will be around the $1000 mark and I'll be buying the parts from a few computer stores that are available to me in Australia. This means that I'll be using AUD :P. My main go to store will be MSY.

2. Aim

I plan on using this computer to casually play games as well as tasks that require Word and Excel. Some games titles include: CSGO and LoL.

3. Monitors
I do plan on getting a new monitor but I'm going to use an old monitor to save some money. I'm sort of confused about VGA, DVI and HDMI. There's also something called display port?

4. Peripherals
I already have a gaming grade mouse but I would like to invest in a mechanical keyboard. I'm thinking about getting the corsair k70 rgb or Razer Blackwidow Chroma. Corsair is more dear and is also hard to find in stock, while Razer is cheaper and is available at the present moment.

5. Why are you upgrading?
I'm upgrading because I do not want to use my laptop anymore because of the noise the fan makes and the battery consumption. I try to avoid using my current computer because it uses AMD athlon x64 and it's really slow. I cannot play any of the games that I play due to the fps that I get.

I have already compiled a list of components that I would like to get through some consultation with friends. Here is the list: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/dJCpVn

Your opinions will be very much appreciated :)

Get atleast 1600MHz memory.

But it is not gonna make difference a lot.

1333MHz is basic config.

Does memory speed actually affect performance because I hear that it does little really...

if it's for gaming you'd won't see much but maybe 5-10 frames difference but if your can alredy run games on 60 FPS then gears won't matter if your lets say editing vidoes or even 3d moldoling then yes you'll see difference in ram speed

The build is mainly for gaming and I'm quite confident that I can run games with 60 fps so I guess I can stay with the current set-up. Can you guys confirm that spending the least money on your ram sticks is the way to go so that you can spend it on the gpu?
