CPU + MOBO Recommendations

Hello,

 

Okay, so my brother has 370$ (total) to spend on the rest of his computer. He has a case (generic HP case—will upgrade later), he has a monitor (Samsung 1920x1080), keyboard + mouse, ram, hard drives, OS, PSU (XFX 550w) and will soon have a GPU (either R7 260x or GTX 750 Ti 2gb). So this 370$ is for MOBO and CPU only. He does not want AMD.  He is a gamer. He listens to music and might surf the web a bit, but his primary usage for this is gaming.

 

It must be from Newegg and price must be, total, 370$. If possible, he would like a k series CPU so he can overclock in the future.

 

The reason for Newegg is because if something happens he needs to be able to RMA it and I am unsure of Superbiiz's RMA return policy (saw great combos and discounts). I bought boards from them before, but via Amazon so I never had to deal with them directly. If they offer a good return policy, I'll convince him to deal with Superbiiz.

I would highly recommend trying to squeeze in a better GPU though with any left over money.

Not sure if a new mobo will fit in the generic HP Case correctly as sometimes they will have non-standard motherboard sizes, layouts, etc..

If I helped him make the purchase off newegg while the board is out of stock (out right now), would they send one when it is available?  If not, would this mobo be a quick swap?

As for the case, yea, it might not fit but if it doesn't we can run down and get a cheap one a little later, or swap for a case we have lying around.

I would have a 4690K + ASrock Z97 Pro4 + 212 evo.

 

Might be a tad over budget but you will need aftermarket cooling if you plan to OC.

Separate budget is 150-160$ from grandparents. It was 100$ but people here convinced me to convince my grandparents it would be a waste of money, so they upped it a bit. 370$ is the price for the CPU and the MOBO from his own pockets, so we can't combine the money. He literally has everything else to run the system so this is all he needs now.

 

Currently using the suggestions here I have:

 

Intel Core i5-4690K +  MSI Z97S SLI Plus LGA 1150 @ $340.97 (will raise 10$ by tomorrow though but I trust MSI more than ASRock so there's that)
