Changing to Intel.

Go to solution Solved by HeftyNugget,

Guess I'll wait.

Afterall I could beat Far Cry 4 on 80 FPS without an issue, guess I don't actually need to change just yet.

Thanks anyways, really helpful tips in 'ere!

So basically, 2 years ago I've made my own build from scratch using just my old HDD to start with and everything else was brand new.

After 2 years I gotta say I am satisfied by the performance I am getting from AMD FX-8350 but I know I could do better with such GPU and components, but my CPU seems to be bottlenecking it.

My components are:

Monitor(s): 2 x 24'

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-D3
CPU: AMD FX-8350
GPU: Radeon Gigabyte GHz Ed. HD7970
PSU: Corsair 650W TX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance - 8 GB 1600 MHz
SSD: Samsung Pro 840 - 256GB
Cooler: SilentiumPC HE1225
Case: Cooler Master HAF-932 Adv.

Now that you know my components, I would like you guys to help me pick a reasonable mobo and a reasonable i7 CPU compatible with the rest of components.

The budget isn't specified, but don't go crazy with the mobo and CPU mmkay?

Just make sure that the motherboard has Crossfire and will be good in case I want to replace other components with better ones.

I AM ONLY PLANNING ON BUYING MOBO AND CPU, REST OF COMPONENTS ARE FINE!

Also, tl;dr

1. Budget & Location

Poland, unlimited.

2. Aim

Gaming, gaming, programming and some more gaming

3. Monitors

2 x 24'

4. Why are you upgrading?

Want some more performance.

Thanks in advance!

Get an i7 4790K with an AIO like Corsair's H110 or so and a Gigabyte or Asus Z97 motherboard. Don't forget to buy an SSD if you have enough budget... something like a 256GB Samsung 850 Evo will be perfect.

5820K with an asus or asrock X99 mobo (the rest have issues).

What issues? and why 5820K and not 4970K ?

What issues? and why 5820K and not 4970K ?

BIOS problems mainly (asrock seems to have the least, followed by asus). In terms of rendering and such, the 5820K is FAR better than the 4790K. It also uses DDR4, while more expensive now, will come down in price this year and surpass DDR3 in terms of cost/GB (according to studies) and will continue to decrease from then onwards while DDR3 will get more expensive (just like DDR2 is now (and a few years ago)).

In terms of gaming performance both are within a margin of error to each other.
