taking cooler on/off

If i take off a waterblock, do i need to re aply anything other than the thermal compound directly on the chip?

Can i take off a waterblock, put on heatsink, use for a while, and put waterblock back on?

Want to buy card on ebay with waterblock, my system isnt watercooled yet, so ill use it with heatsink, watercooling in a month, put block back on.

yes its fine. question is where are you going to get a heatsink?
