Introducing my new project: Even more ghetto shield. I will not be using a phone, Limelight or even an Nvidia graphics card; no, I will be using a Microcomputer, a controller and Steam In-home streaming to create my own "AMD Barrier", so to speak.

The overall goal will be to create an Nvidia Shield for cheaper and for AMD.

Will be editing shortly to add more info.

THE PARTS I KNOW I WILL NEED:

A Microcomputer (like the RPi) with hardware H.264 decoding

A small screen (>5inch, at least 800x600)

A controller (probably last gen consoles, cheaper controllers, and usb)

A battery bank (hopefully over 10Ah)

An HDMI to HDMI/ analog audio splitter

emmc / Micro sd storage

Microcomputer:

I've decided to go with the Odroid-C1. It has an Amlogic S805, a quad core with hardware H264/H265 decoding. It has eMMC storage capabilities and is powered with a 5v DC jack, which USB is capable of powering. It has Mini HDMI for a display aS well, but no analog audio output. We' ll need an adapter.

FANBOY OF: PowerColor, be quiet!, Transcend, G.Skill, Phanteks

FORMERLY FANBOY OF: A-Data, Corsair, Nvidia

DEVELOPING FANBOY OF: AMD (GPUS), Intel (CPUs), ASRock

My display will probably be one of the Adafruit IPS 7" screens. Or isn't touch screen but I don't think it's too much of a deal. My remote will also be an Xbox 360 controller, since they have cheap Wired USB ones. The problem is that the usb 2 is not powered on the odroid c1 so I will need to find a USB power / data splitter.
