Solved by skullbringer,
This is a common issue with asus boards. In case the fan spins very slowly on startup the motherboard may not be able to detect it as spinning. You can try lowering the "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" to give the mb control over very low fan speeds.
Alternatively you can set the mb to skip "CPU fan error" when booting, so you dont need to press F1.
