4790k is a monster cpu, eve running the most cpu intensive games i can while streaming and hosting servers have i once run into a bottleneck, and thats while having to render all of Stratis & several hundred independent AI and streaming.

Well the GPU is the bottleneck there, the 4790K is capable of a lot more than a 7870.

then what would cause bottelnecking in a computer?

If you had a GPU too powerful for a CPU that the CPU could not feed data fast enough to the GPU.

if i get an i7 4790k will i experience any bottleneck if i keep my MSI r7870 inside?

you have an awesome CPU...welcome to the i7 master race my friend...please do yourself and your cpu a favor and get an appropriate GPU for it (GTX 970 or R9 290X for example)

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |

it will be fine for some time like its not too bad right?

by today's standard the 7870 is a slow GPU...you would highly benefit from a better graphics card mate ;)

the R9 290X for example is a over twice as fast.

your GPU is very slow..

I don't think there are any GPUs currently that would be bottlenecked by a 4790k.
