Gaming Rig Suggestions

Go to solution Solved by Laederem,

I'd say there's no need to go with an X99 platform if you're not into productivity. Mainly gaming? An i5 4690K will suffice. If you want "future proof" stuff then get the i7 4790k.

They will last 4-5 years easily. DX12 is going to lift most of the load from the CPU, so nextgen games will not be as demanding as the current gen games are, as weird as it may sound.

4c/8t is the best option for gaming IMO.

With the hex and octo core Intel chips you're going to have a hard time hitting higher raw clocks and less games take advantage of more than 4 cores (where hyperthreading can bridge the gap)

If you know what you're doing you will likely get better performance in games out of a 4790k than the higher core count i7 chips.

you don't need a six core i7 for gaming... you could easily have a beefier computer for the same price.

I have finally finalized my components list! am going to build a gaming PC and my goal is to be future proof (CPU wise) and i would like your thoughts. Do you think that I can count on an overclock to 4.4 Ghz?

Here is a link to my build:

Maybe consider getting dual 970s with a 4 core i7 as it will be a bit cheaper than that 6 core

Damn, that's one expensive ass gaming rig for no reason

Remember a wise man once said, "You'll most likely hear/see more bad reviews from products than good, because if they get a good product, they won't bother to write a review, and if they got a bad product, they'll complain about the product" ~ SoftenButterCream
