What should i upgrade

Hey guys, i just built my first ever gaming rig 2 months ago coming from an ancient pc (by ancient i mean LEGACY) core 2 duo E2160,radeon hd x1000,3gb generic ram, generic asus motherboard (not sure of the model) generic 430w psu generic cheap case

My budget was only $500-600 so here's what I got

-pentium g3258 (had no other choice, could've bought an i5 4690k but then i would be using Intel HD)
-corsair vengeance 2x4gb 1600
-used geforce gtx 660 ti reference card that i bought for $150 (long in the tooth much better than 750 ti)
-corsair cx600m semi modular psu
-wd blue 1tb
-corsair Carbide SPEC 02 case
-asrock h81m hds micro atx motherboard (my budge only allowed this)

Now I'm lookin for an upgrade while saving some pennies, what should i upgrade? I've been wanting to upgrade the cpu as it causes huge bottleneck even with a relatively weak and old graphics card, severe stuttering with watch dogs, cod aw, bf4,crysis 3

Or should i buy the gtx 970?but the bottleneck would be even more severe, i borrowed my friend's gtx 970 pit it on my rights and it made literally no difference whatsoever, theses said games are still, uncomfortable to play

I want the i5 4690k,is it a wise choice? I've read some people said that having an i5 4690k with a cheapo generic h81 board would be a moot point..

Getting a locked i5 would be your best bet.

I would get a GTX 970 first, new CPU won't make a big difference with your current GPU.

I would recommendbuying  a used 2500k whit a new z77 motherboard the brand dosent matters at this price and you can still get them new if you look aruond and an i5 2500k is a good overclocker there ist like 10% slower then a 4690k and you can get one for 70$

Later down the line you could buy a gtx 970 because this cpu wont bottlenack it

if i bought a gtx 970 now wouldn't my pentium be a huge bottleneck ?
