Mobo- MSI x99s http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130796

The only thing im wondering about is if the ram speed is too high for that cpu? also.... I can run 2 980's in x16 pci-e lanes with that CPU right? or do I need to fork up to get the i7-5930k?

In an anandtech article it says the i7 5820k only has 28 pci lanes. So the cards would have to run in 16x, 8x. I'm not sure whether or not you need the bandwidth if its just for gaming you will be fine.

The link for the ram doesn't work, but I would assume the ram will work if its ddr4.

For whatever reason the links seem to be dead to me, so I can't tell what mobo you got there.

The RAM speed is fine. I don't personally know about DDR4 and it's current state, but I imagine it'll run fine. If it doesn't, you can always turn down the speed and you won't have any problems.

With that CPU, you can't run two 980s with 16x each, but 8x is more than enough so you won't have any trouble at all. In fact, 8x PCIe 2.0 was more than enough, so 4x PCIe 3.0 should (hypothetically) perform just perfectly. But it's Nvidia so you wouldn't be able to do that anyway.

So it would be a waste of money to go for the i7-5930K? even with dx12 around the corner? Still dont think dx12 would benifit with 2 16x cards?

5930k is a waste of money unless you're running 3+way SLI.
