I don't have the money to update my hardware.  However I did buy Windows 8.1.

I formatted the hard drive and did a virgin install of windows 8.1

Now I keep getting Watch dog errors.  I had no problems with XP for years.

I tried to update each driver one at a time but windows keeps telling me that all the drivers are up to date.

Does anyone know of some *** free *** testing software that I can use.

I have :

Mother Board : Biostar N61PC-M28

CPU : Phenom 9850 Quad core 2.5 Gig

Ram : 4 gigs

Windows 8.1 64 bits.

Since I had no problems with XP I believe this is a driver issue.

I just cant narrow down the driver/drivers.

Also : I noticed that my cpu starts off at 2.5 gig  but quickly drops down to 1.1 gigs.  If that helps.

Thank you for time.

Scott

Few things.

Watch dog error is basically some part of your mobo overheating.

Secondly it's ghz for processor not gig

Thirdly, it's bit not bits.

Try and get more cooling to your mobo or give full details of the watch dog error, there are variants of it.

Thank you for your time.

I don't think this is a temperature issue.  I have no problems with windows XP.  Plus I took the cover off and aimed a desk top fan at the mother board.  no effect.

The "Clock_Watchdog_Timeout" is the full name.  The primary error I get is :
"The Server (1B1F472E-4826-2C2324D389AE) did not register with DCOM within the required Timeout".

This problem only seems to happen with I am watching Youtube videos.  Like a long play series.  example "Marbozir -- XCOM Long War Let's Play Impossible...."

but not small videos like LinusTechTips.

I tried to update the drivers but windows 8.1 says the drivers are already updated.

My video card is : NVIDIA GEFORCE 6150E Nforce 430

UPDATE:

I noticed today that If I watch MARBOZIR xcom long war lp (on youtube)  I get the crashing issues  however,

I have also been watching ChristopherOdd xcom long war.  I have not had a single issue with ChristopherOdd.

This is looking more and more like a Codec issue???!

Any thoughts.
