Hey guys, I just bought an MSI R9 270 Gaming OC and when I'm in a game they run perfect for about 5-10 minutes then the screen goes black and then I have to turn the pc off and back on. (Runs perfect just setting at the desktop surfing)

So I'm pretty sure it is the power supply but just want to confirm it with you guys. (I ordered a 600w psu from newegg last night) I have a Corsair CX430. I'm assuming the Gaming OC 270 is drawing more power than a stock 270 right?

If so can I underclock it to keep it from crashing until my new PSU gets here? Or should I just uninstall it and wait for the new PSU?

Thanks for any help.

My specs are in my sig.

CX430 is plenty for a single R9 270...

Try checking your temperatures and uninstalling/reinstalling drivers.

Yeah I thought about my temps too. I've had afterburner up monitoring them while in game and never went above about 60*C. I'll try reinstalling the drivers then. (yeah didn't use the disc)

I don't know, could be. Every time I try to check them it shows 0*C with every program I try. Any Idea on how to fix that?

what are your cpu temps?

did this problem occur straight after you overclocked?

is you overclock stable?

it should not be the wattage thats the problem

Its when dragons have so much sex that the cpu cant handle it

I haven't overclocked. The GPU was factory overclocked. I haven't OC'd my cpu either.

ok, the pc seems to have stopped crashing. I took off my heatsink and reapplied some thermal compound. Then I ran Unigine Valley benchmark for 30 minutes and it didn't crash. Before it would crash after 5 minutes. Then I was able to play a game for about 3 hours with no problems. So hopefully that was it.

It could also be my motherboard though. The 24 pin on either the psu cable or the connector itself on the mobo is messed up a little bit. If it isn't pushed in just right only the gpu fans run on startup and the board doesn't post. I push on the 24 pin a bit and it will boot up.  <_<

Good thing I was planning on upgrade my mobo and cpu anyway.

Thanks for help.
