The aftermarket SC card is better due to a better performing cooler that can allow for higher oc's.

I'd go with the reference because EVGA had some quality issues with their ACX 2.0 970s.

 

ok so what are the quality issues with it

Something about the cooler I believe.

 

In terms of raw performance, the EVGA card is better.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

but im not a tech guy i dont under stand that wording please in 5th grade language 

The EVGA SC has a better cooler --> lower temps --> more room for overclocking.
