Hard time deciding between two cases

Go to solution Solved by Ripull,

This is purely matter of your own preference on their aesthetical design. Both are good cases.

planning on a more simple build, i'd like to go black/white (r5 would work here no matter what) but i can't guarantee there'll be quality black/white motherboards for skylake/cannonlake, and i'd go with the black/blue or black/white h440 but i'm not sure if i want the h440 over the r5.

I have the exact same debate right now... I am leaning more towards the h440 atm

both are so good, but i don't know if i like the fact the h440 completely removes 5.25" bays, and i'm not sure i like the hard drive mounting plates either, but i like the stealthed design

yea I have the same argument! but I don't think I really need the 5.25 bay and the hard drive mounting plates are ok they, its weird because of the no railing but it does look slick! I have been searching a couple days for other cases and have found nothing that attracts me like those two

Because none of us an tell you what you like.

Personal opinion: H440 is more aesthetically pleasing.

think i'mma go with the h440, but the thing i don't know about is, does the power supply shroud eat up the airflow of the bottom-most fan in the front intake? or does removing the drive bay help resolve this issue? because i don't want the bottom fan to be there trying to cool nothing lol.

still iffy but iono.

now to decide, black/white h440 or black/blue h440

i think i like the black more (would match my peripherals, not eye-grabby), but white would take better pictures / look cleaner and more open in general.

fuck

The bottom fan looks to be helping with airflow for the PSU and also the hard drives, with that PSU shroud there i am sure that impacts the PSU's cooling a little bit and im sure thats why the fan is there, it also looks to help push air towards the bottom-most of the PCI slots. what i might recommend doing to increase the maximum amount of airflow would be to pull out any of the 3.5" drive bays that you arent using and store them somewhere. Also with the color choice on factor that might change your decision is dust, with black every little speck of dust is going to show up both inside the case and outside. I probably would go with the white personally for that reason alone. Good luck!

but intake from the bottom is probably the most optimal anyway :v i do see your point about the bottom fan helping pci slots, especially since i won't have a side panel fan slot to use anymore either (helps with gpu airflow)

and dust shouldn't be a major issue though, the filter helps a pretty good amount, plus the fact air won't be coming in through the top as easy (especially if i install fans for exhaust there, but then i'd be coming closer to negative air pressure inside the case sucking dust in from other random places

dunno. blue h440 is looking really nice but i'm still not sure if it's earned my money yet.

Thats a fair point, dust inside the case probably wouldnt be a huge issue, but im more partial to the dust on the outside of the case showing up, (of course if you dust your case regularly then its not a huge issue) I do dig the black and blue..that is pretty slick looking, fractal case does have the sound dampening material that would help with acoustics, not sure if thats a huge issue for you or not.

h440 does as well but not nearly as much as the r5, you're right on that.

i have a can of air sitting on my desk right now actually haha. i might go with the black/blue as i plan on a black/blue intel board for when i make the jump. it'll match my ram and white light has a natural blueish tint to it so i think i'll probably do that.

it being dead silent is not a HUGE necessity, just anything that'll make it quieter than it already is, you know?

Was not aware of the dampening material on the 440, thats pretty cool that more manufacturers are doing this, of course if you would like a silent pc you could throw in some noctua fans, but i am sure you wouldnt go for that as it doesnt match your color scheme you are going for, i think the system your planning is looking pretty slick.

it's already kinda sorta coming to fruition, the power supply i got is fully modular so cabling will be a breeze, plus the case will accent everything fairly well. i'll just need to get a 'nicer' cooler that'll actually make use of how much space i'll have, and eventually a new motherboard/processor (skylake/cannonlake come faster plz)

i have a comment about my build somewhere around here with a few pics

I have an r4, and IMO the r5 isn't as good looking at the h440.
