I do not have a lot of experience with Bluetooth speakers (as i swear by never using bluetooth) but i had a few people in my office with one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=886582&gclid=Cj0KEQiA8f6kBRCGhMPFtev8p58BEiQAaMLmqSiQuIBtMdby94wAlN0NNeqJcKvJ9m3cQWNin5e2AdwaAkP88P8HAQ&Q=&is=REG&A=details It got pretty loud and i dont see it having any problems going throughout the house. and its a lot cheaper than $550, i might give it a shot and if you dont like it return it for something else. Cheers!

You can get something like the Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter , it costs around $50 but you can get cheaper alternatives by other brands. Then you can use the rest of your budget on some better quality speakers without limiting yourself to options that include Bluetooth.
