I recently upgraded cpu/mobo/memory and now sometimes my display go black after windows finish loading and i have to reset. Even if it loads properly, screen keeps going black and i am getting "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error. It seems independent on what i am doing as i could play gw2 for few hours without errors and then kept getting it with only firefox open.

specs:

i3-4160

ga-h97-d3h

crucial ballistix tactical 2x4gb 1600mhz cl8

antec vp450

gigabyte gtx550ti

windows 8.1 pro 64bit

i tried drivers 314.22 , 331.58 , 340.52 , 347.09 with and without addons (physx, geforce experience, hdaudio), reinstalled windows 4 times, switched power management mode from 'adaptive' to 'prefer max performance', disabled integrated gpu, let windows update

nothing helped

when i am using integrated hd 4400 or old geforce 9600gt everything works fine

when i am using this gtx550ti with my old c2d e7200, ga-ep31-ds3l, 2x1gb ddr2 800, same windows, same drivers, everything works fine

i am willing to get new gpu, but i am paranoid that since this one runs flawlessly with previous setup, new gpu might not help

srsly, i ran out of ideas what else to try, any advices?

Have you tried reseating the card? Sounds like you have an odd situation there as everything worked flawlessly before.

Is your GPU overclocked in any way?

Temperatures?

no overclock on gpu, i even tried to underclock it

cpu is overclocked in old system where it works fine

temperatures of both gpu and cpu are usually under 40

yes, i reseated it multiple times switching between gtx550ti and 9600gt and both mobos

also checked with dvi / dsub / hdmi on two different displays, same thing every time
