BF3/4 + PS3 Controller Layouts

Hi guys

 

I know, I know, use a keyboard and mouse. I do. This is for my siblings, whom come from the console and refuse to try the keyboard and mouse. We can't seem to get the controller layout to work in BF3 or BF4. It just seems like some actions won't be available to controller users if used on PC. I managed to get it all installed without having to install that spyware MotionJoy by following the instructions on this video, but, there is no default layout given by EA/whatever. I tried numerous setups, but nothing seems to work right like the controller does on a console.

 

For example, sprint is literally for half a second and then stops. There is no way to crouch or  prone without giving up a button slot for reload or something, and I can't seem to find any free spots for spotting etc etc.

 

Does anyone have a good reference for me to follow, or a profile I can download and just adjust for their computers? I have two official PS3 controllers and an Afterglow one, if any of that matters. I have no wired Xbox controllers, so that's why I'm not setting it up for them.

does it give the xobox 360 controller layout? what did you use to get the controller working?

does it give the xobox 360 controller layout? what did you use to get the controller working?

 

Sorry, I thought my post kept the video link (edited OP). I used this video to get the controllers working:

 

 

It doesn't give me a layout at all. All of the controller entries were blank. I tried the "reset" option in case that would put some default options in the controller layout, but nothing happened in that section.

I am also using it, but no default layout was given for me for the PS3 controller. :(

does the controller work? did you plug it in a USB 2.0 or 3.0?

 

It works, definitely, but the layout is so strange that it is unplayable.  I'm not sure there are any 3.0 ports on their computer, but I tried every single port available, all the same result.

Anyone have any profiles I can copy over theirs? Would really like to play with my siblings.

 

Also, if anyone knows how to fix the annoying black bars around the screen when playing at lower resolutions, that would be great too. :)
