also disk 6 should probably be GPT as well, as GPT has a hard limit for how large the partitions can be. don't convert disk 6 unless it is blank though, as it WILL wipe the partitions as far as I am certain.

can I see the partition table of disk 6 in computer management when you are done with disk 4? I've never myself played with a 5TB disk as the largest I have is a 3TB drive, but I didn't think it would work well as MBR

You can just delete the partition and then right click on the disk in the disk manager and format the drive again. Just make sure you select GPT

you know I had no idea how to do it in disk manager, I've only done it in diskpart, which has a much steeper learning curve.

good find

I had the same error pop up when I tried to convert my SD card to GPT . . . you could try cleaning the disk first, which wipes all partitions and the partition table

for that it would be "select disk 4"

"clean"

"convert GPT"

You are a god it worked. what do now just format?

that you sir but what about the disk 6? should i do it to that too? I am putting it in another build

if it has nothing on it, do the same thing

select disk 6

clean

convert GPT

then go on about formatting it. I prefer GPT for any reasonably large drive as MBR only allows 4 partitions, and my dual booted laptop that only has a 250gb drive has 7 partitions because it has windows 8.1 and ubuntu, with all the recovery and swap partitions
