Best free VPN?

I don't know of any free VPN services which offer support for SSL/TSL. This means any website you need to sign into with a password won't work.

A free vpn that will increase your speed: Ain't gonna happen. All free vpn's are allright for bypassing blocked sites and stuff like that. Also watch out for free vpn's they might log your data.

Have you contacted your ISP about these issues? That's always the first step. Sure, odds of them actually doing something about it are slim, but if you haven't tried then you don't know.

Next, most Free VPN's aren't that good. Some are decent for unblocking region restricted content like Netflix, but I wouldn't bet on them increasing your speeds.

Also:

Well I don't know what else to do, my download speed from speed test.net is 1.5 mbps, but steam and other programs download only at 150 kb/s, which according to google is only .15 mbps

Your math is wrong.

Your Internet speed is measured in Mbps (Megabits per second). This is what most speed test websites will list, including speedtest.net.

However, actual browser download speeds (Including Steam), are measured in KBps (KB/s) or MBps (MB/s) (Kilobytes and Megabytes per second, respectively). The cheat sheet for this is little b for bits, Big B for Bytes.

There are 8 bits per Byte.

So lets do some math! Yay!

1.5 Mbps (Megabits per second) * 1024 = 1536 Kbps (Kilobits per second) (1024 because of Binary, there are 1024 Kilobits per Megabit)

1536 Kbps / 8 = 192 KB/s (KiloBytes per second) (This is converting Kilobits into Kilobytes).

So you're getting 150 KB/s out of 192 KB/s max speed. That's pretty reasonable considering there is always overhead in a network connection.

So either:

1. You're getting just about what you should, or

2. You didn't list the correct internet speed numbers.

Nothing is 100% free. They're selling something about you. Be it forcing you into viewing ads, selling personal information, doesn't matter. If you're not paying for it, there is something about you being sold.

It's not costing me money, nor does it affect my day to day life.

Free and loving it.
