Hello mighty members :)

I came here driven mad after watching (and getting addicted) to LinusTechTips youtube's channel :)

Now here's my situation. About 1.5 year ago I bought the below machine and I would like to spend 500USD (400EUR) to upgrade it in order to be able to play Star Citizen on a nice settings/fps when it comes out next year.

So what I would like to ask you guys is: what is the best combination of new CPU/GPU/MB/RAM for 500USD that will offer me the best bang for the buck.

Curent setup:

Power supply:  CORSAIR CS550M, 80+ Gold, 550W

Motherboard: MB Gigabyte H77-DS3H - H77, s.1155, DDR3, ATX

Ram: RAM Kingston 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 (KHX16C9B1BK2/8) HyperX black Series

CPU:  Intel Core i3-3240 (3,4GHz, 3MB, LGA 1155) BOX

GPU: VGA nV Gainward GTX650 GS, 1GB DDR5, PCI-E

Thank you very much for your help!!

All the best!

p.s. please don't hate on me too much if I chose crappy stuff in the first place (see my login for more info :P )

If your intent is to play Star Citizen, better: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2yXdt6 (whether it will play well or at all is still up in the air though)

This belongs in the New Builds and Planning section. I'm moving the thread.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Thank you guys so much! by the way, it now comes to me that posting this question in general is a bad idea... sorry if it was, is there a better subforum for these questions?

Like I mentioned above, this type of thread would belong in the New Builds and Planning sub-forum. I have already moved the thread.

You need to quote a post or tag a member or else they won't get a notification you replied to them.

Oh--I misread. (or misinterpreted?)--there are plenty of newer members that would phrase 'current plans' as 'current setup'.

@MrCheapnoob Can I get some clarification on whether you were upgrading or planning a new build?

Here, xeon ( basicly i5 with hyperthreading and no integrated graphics that you dont need )

Or i7 without igpu and -100mhz.

Should play SC no prob.
