  1. http://www.amazon.com/Synology-Station-Diskless-Attached-DS115/dp/B00RX87LJK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449134228&sr=8-1&keywords=synology+nas+1-bay I'm giving (and setting up) a basic NAS with a 1TB hdd. Once setup, it'll be recognized as an external drive (a la dropbox) by all the PCs in the house. It'll act like backup machine for pictures and music and be accessible to all smart devices in the house. This allows my parents to backup everything they have without having to physically attach anything. Moreover, because the NAS is accessible from the web, I will setup the network drives to be accessible from my parent's other house too. Once setup, a synology nas is the best possible tech investment you can have for backup, streaming or really anything you want!
  2. OK! I've just spent 3 hours scouring the interwebs and I can't find a definitive answer - LG 34UC87M-B vs Samsung S34E790C. Basically, the main difference seems to be VA panel vs IPS. Sammy seems to have the edge on default color calibration and light bleed. On my local (czech) sites, it seems to sell better too. On the other side, I have good experience with LG panels, Linus' review was excellent and people seem to be happy with it. They both seem to be good displays but obviously can't get both. help me forum people you're my only hope! THANKS THANKS THANKS!
  3. thanks for the tip! I was looking for an official suggestion thread actually but after 5 minutes I gave up and decided to post my own with blackjack and hookers
  4. Everything is obvious once you know how to do it it took me quite a bit of research to find out how to power a series of multiple strips inside and below my case as well as find out where to buy the little electronic pieces required to power it from my PSU as the led kit i bought came with a wall outlet adapter. With Linus's reach this can be useful for plenty of people who would not dare to do it because they don't know how to do it and I just think a video with a bit of cutting, soldering and so on would be a lot of fun to watch.
  5. Hello LMG staff and forumers, Could you please make videos on the following topics: - How to pimp out your PC case with the use of automotive grade paint, acrylic or plexiglas sheet and carbon-fiber looking (3M or other brands) sticky paper. GOAL: I want to learn how I could make my system look like this: - How to buy, prepare and install custom RGB remote controlled LED lights into your system. You did make a video about bitfenix product and one NCIX how-to, but it was limited. GOAL: I would love to see a complete video showing how to use a product like this: http://www.amazon.com/ADX-LED-STRIP-NA-Water-Resistant-Flexible-Controller/dp/B00K0W30UU and have it installed like this video shows: I think such content would be quite valuable for noobthusiasts like myself. Thanks
  6. I actually felt compelled to log in ND reply... I watch LTT videos for 1.5 year and they are awesome. Naysayers are trying to paint an image that Linus and Co aren't honest and are some kind of geek mafia that will just offer their service to the largest donor. If that sounds like pure BS, it's because it is. Linus has his flaws like all human beings, but is straight forward and frontal about what he thinks. He started this stuff from scratch with friends in his garage and turned it into one of the 3 most popular tech venues on YouTube. This is an achievement. He doesn't give scores in his reviews and actually explain their genuine experience with products. I bought a lot of products based on Linus and others reviews, but more importantly I learned a lot about tech on these channels which enabled me to start building desktops and setup servers. You don't like LTTs videos? Fine, dont watch them. But they do tremendous efforts trying to bring valuable original content on YouTube and I love it for that. And rather than criticising, why don't you go and create your own channel and become so much better and no biaised and impartial and not paid and produce original content only for products you will buy out of your own pocket. You guys just sound like butthurt mob on some kind of moralizing quest... Seriously, keeper and loaner is the inevitable business model of FREE youtube content. "buhhhhhhh all that free stuff fed down my throat for FREE is not reflecting my exact opinion, quick let's call the Spanish inquisition!"
  7. Wire stripper: 2usd Electric tape: 50 cents The pleasure of fixing the stuff yourself in 5 minutes: priceless
  8. I had something like this happen to me and it turned out to be the hand cable. Like said above, try the card in a different pc.
  9. I just got the asus z97 pro gamer for my build a month ago and I confirm it's great. Mouse driven Bios with fan speed management is awesome. Sound drivers are top notch. And there is a nice red Led trip that run on the bottom left. All in all a great mobo. Now you could get most of the same with a cheaper one. But if you have a windowed case you might as well have a nice one
  10. Thank you guys so much! by the way, it now comes to me that posting this question in general is a bad idea... sorry if it was, is there a better subforum for these questions?
  11. Hello mighty members I came here driven mad after watching (and getting addicted) to LinusTechTips youtube's channel Now here's my situation.
