Thank you. Does the same go for 24 and 20+4? Why are they named like that if they are compatible?

Yes. They're made because some people only have 4 pin plugs on their motherboard(CPU) or 20 pin plugs for the motherboard power.

4+4 and 8 pins are exactly the same.
