the Formula Z is an expensive board, a good amount could be save by picking another 990FX board

you dont need a 850W PSU

even 600 is plenty

get a air cooler for the CPU as it run very hot

change the GPU to a 280X or 290

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Cut back on the PSU, you don't need 850W's, then dump the money saved from the PSU into a better graphics card like the R9 280 or 280X.

EDIT: Cut back on the motherboard too, you can get a great board for half that price or less. And get a HDD for mass storage.

What's the system being used for?

Why such an expensive motherboard? No mass storage?

The psu is overkill. A decent 500w is already more than enough for a single 270x or 650w for cf.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Here is the updated parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6kP7nQ

I don't really need an hdd I have a couple externals. I could upgrade the ssd though since I'm under budget now.

your build is missing a casing

do you need one?

IMO this will be more balanced build

WoW, Diablo, Starcraft...etc.

Can the new 970 GPU's work on this build? Or do I need intel mobo then?

Is this a good build for future upgrades?

I am also pretty picky about colors matching on everything :P

The parts list can work but I'd suggest going Intel for the better single threaded performance since WoW is heavily reliant on that.

Pcie graphics cards can work on any motherboard with the pcie slots--brand doesn't make a difference.

Your core build is great at $750.  If you are to start upgrading things, the best place to start would be an Intel i5 4690K.  The build cost would go up $100 or so.  A GTX 970 does not require a intel socket btw.

Thanks for the feedback.

Intel is kind of the best of both worlds for single and multi core?

Is there a huge difference between the i5 and i7 since they are both 4-core?

Will the i5 be enough for some photo editing and streaming?

EDIT:

How does this intel build look?

I added a case, although it's a bit more then I want to spend for a case. I liked the 450D and the 540D with the windows.

Going Intel would better suit your system usage.

The i7 is basically an i5 with hyper threading and some more cache. The i5 is a better value and I'd suggest not getting the i7 unless you need the extra threads.

The i5 is fine for moderate editing and streaming.

It's a bit more lopsided in terms of balancing for a normal gaming system but this should suit the games you have listed best.
