Intel core i5 4690k problems installing problems?

Go to solution Solved by Frankie,

What @Pooherino ツ said, update BIOS on that board and it should be good. I checked the Gigabyte site and GIGABYTE H81M S2PV does support 4690k after BIOS update :)

Welcome to the forum btw :)

I have been having some problems installing my new CPU. After puting the CPU in, i start up the computer and it restarts its self. I have followed all the steps. I then put the old CPU back in (i3 4130) with the new fan, and works completely fine. I have tried reseting the bios and even after doing that the pc still restarts its self. If anyone has any solutions that would help alot.

PC Specs atm

GPU: GTX 760

CPU: I3 4130

OS: win 7

PSU: 500w

MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE H81M S2PV

Thank you.

Is it based off of the 8x chipset? That CPU will only work on the H/Z97 boards without a BIOS update.
