Why are people using R7 260x so much?

Does it have some special performance or anything? I'm building a 400 GBP build and I have included r9 280x. Does it have any mega extra value for money?

It's just a decent low cost card :P

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

idk personally i'd go for a 270 and Oc it myself and they are like 20 bucks more

AMD's lower-tier cards are a pretty good value. 

 

You often pay more as you climb in the GPU-hiearchy (with a few exceptions).

CPU: Core i7-4790K

GPU: 2x MSi GTX 970 GAMING G4

Yea the 260x provides a very good price to performance ratio at a price that is very attractive to some people.

Plus sometimes that 20 bucks is a step too far for some, and would make the difference between being able to pay for the shipping of the build or having to wait to get the parts entirely.
