Hey

I got The Crew with my graphics card, not really expecting much since its Ubisoft, but it kinda works.

I do have some issues though - there are two main ones:

1. Not able to connect to my friend, but able to connect to everyone else: When we invite each other, the other person just gets "You could not join the crew" - every damn time. We are perfectly able to play with other persons though.

2. While driving in cockpit mode, I get strange artifacting, no matter what graphics core clock I run. It's kinda stuttering and confusing itself replacing some images with others, that end up making me crash the car ALOT.

Any fixes? Reply with the fixes as 1. and 2. for the different issues.

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

You may already have found this but after a few Google searches (I just got the game myself so I haven't tried this out yet) I found this on a ubisoft forum. A guy named johnnydotexe may have a fix for it. But again, I haven't tried it myself yet so you are just going to have to try it and see. I'll soon try it out myself with a friend of mine and I'll post the results.

Possible Fix!

I tried every fix out there to resolve this issue and none of them worked. Last night someone here in the subreddit mentioned my NAT possibly being the issue. That reminded me that CoD:AW(PC) has been telling me that my NAT type is strict. Console players often deal with this issue too. Maybe this is my issue?

I looked up a guide on opening NAT in my router(a pfSense box), loaded up The Crew, saw 7 players(max per session is 8 IIRC) when I got in to game, and it took less than 1 minute to get a full Faction PvP match going. Now I can actually play the game the way it was meant to be played. The game being made for consoles is why this is happening. These "sessions/servers" are basically distributed among players and if a player has a strict network he/she will have connectivity issues with other players/the game. In summary, Ubisoft placed the burden on us by porting this game.

I think that NAT fix will work for most of the people that still have issues after forwarding ports. Here are all the steps you should take to ensure the game runs properly...

-Forward UDP ports 3000 and 3001 in your router(google search router model+port forward for instructions)

-Open NAT in your router(google search router model+open NAT for instructions). If you have pfSense just shoot me a message and I can help you get it set up for this game.

-Make sure thecrew.exe and uplay.exe are added as exceptions in your Windows firewall and ANY antivirus/antimalware/realtime protection/web protection software you have running. I caught my Malwarebytes Pro trying to block a web connection from the game over port 3001 the other day and adding thecrew.exe as an exception resolved that.

If you're still having the same issue after all that is done then you need to make sure you forwarded the ports correctly, your NAT is actually open, you don't have any protection software blocking the game, and that your ISP isn't blocking the game ports for some reason. One way to test is to hook your PC directly up to your modem bypassing the router. If you have a modem/router combo from your ISP then this isn't as easy as moving a cable around.

You can find the full thread here: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/965478-Can-t-invite-my-friend-to-crew-in-game/page4

That is a potential fix for 1. I haven't experienced anything like what you describe for 2 so I'm afraid I cannot help you with that.

For 1. we havent tried doing the portforward thing, since he doesnt want to risk it. He killed his network for two days accidently last time he tried something out.

So I guess we just can't play together.

Is it in the south? try verifying your game files, i  had such a problem once. Fast travelling through it should fix it after you verify the game files.

And for the camera thing in first person -

"I have an issue where whenever I'm in cockpit view, the camera will sporadically dart back and forth for a couple frames at a time. This makes cockpit view extremely unpleasant and has led me to resort in doing everything 3rd-person (which is nowhere near as fun).

Has anyone else had this issue or found a fix for it?"

Taken from reddit, so i am probably not the only one with the problem, and my friend doesn't seem to have it either.

"Doesn't bother me once I turn off the animation setting. Now cross-country road trips are much more enjoyable! :)"

Don't know where that setting is, but i will find it, and will disable it! :D

Edit: Looked through all settings, didn't manage to find one about animation

no its up in main where one of the hidden car parts is. if i zoom in too close on the map it crashes, if i fast travel, it crashes, if i driver there any which way it crashes, its a 100% unobtainable location. thats the only issue that I have run into.

Weird. Anyways, try the verify file thing through uplay, worked for me. Good luck to you with that.

If anyones interested, I did succeed by port forwarding and the rest of the stuff you had to do. Though, my friend couldn't access his router since he didn't know the password for it so I was the only one who port forwarded (So I assume only the crew leader needs to port forward?). But both of us gave access to both Thecrew.exe and uplay.exe in our firewalls. Though, I was the one who sent him the request for a crew membership and that seemed to work.

Now we are cruising together :)

Seriously though, this is really bad and Ubisoft really should have had this fixed already. But for anyone who does want to play with their friends now, this seems to be a solution.
