Last time I asked a similar question and intel vs AMD fanboy war went on in the replies and I really didnt get any good information. So if we can try our hardest not to fanboy out, I have an intel vs AMD related question. I recently discovered that microcenter has some great bundle deals and I have a microcenter near by so it would work well for me to buy one of these. Im building my first system and already have a case and power supply with an R9 270, a kingston ssd, and 8gb of corsair vengeance ram. All that I have left to buy are the CPU and mother board and I really dont know which bundle I want to go for. Initially I didnt want to spend over $200 but then the 4690k bundle seemed really appealing for not a whole lot more. Then I saw the AMD bundles for really great prices such as an fx6300 bundle for about half the price of the 4690k bundle and I just can not decide on what to do. My mind says go with intel because in the long run I do want to go with intel and stick with them but my wallet tells me to go with AMD. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

if you want to know what is best for you, you have to look at what your doing on your pc. Intel is the better choice if you are a gamer because it has really good percore performance. But you may want amd if you are mulitasking and need 8 cores or are simply just a budget.

The 4690k is clearly better than the FX 6300 on every front, but the 8320 beats the i5 in CPU intensive tasks like rendering. multitasking and especially streaming but the i5 gets a few more FPS in most games. But for a R9 270 you don't need an i5 or a 8320, you can get away with a much cheaper CPU

I also recommend the amd 8320 if you are willing to overclock a bit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285

An Intel Core i5 4590 has much better value than an i5 4690. I would get that unless the bundle is extremely cheap..

With that graphics card I doubt that you will see much benefit from a faster processor. However, and this is important to note, if you buy the 4690K, it will probably last you an other GPU upgrade cycle, something which will probably not happen if you decide on the FX6300. There is also the question of which games you like playing. Most of the multi-player games are very CPU intensive and you will benefit much more from an i5 in that regard.
