what happens if I plug more than the needed power into a GPU?

The graphics card like any other system component only pulls as much power as it needs.

The GPU will take as much as it needs. For example, if you plug in a 10W radio into a 500W adapter, it won't blow up.

So everything is fine

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.
One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.
