GTX 970 bottlenecked.

Go to solution Solved by D3MON,

You're talking about the CPU, I'm assuming?

And thanks for the help -- You've given the most helpful advice so far I reckon lol.

sr4%20intel.jpg

yep its an intel fanboys wet dream (YAY FOR BADLY MADE GAMES!!!!!), funnily enough got 6 cores? itll use 2, got 4 cores? it'll use 4, got hyperthreading? go f yourself...

this is what happens when we ignore multi thread support and simply embrace IPC (regardless of frequency scaling...)

to be fair I can't blame them, its saints row....its a cheap chinese copy of grand theft auto made cheaply purely to steal some market share from gta, nothing more.

its like buying plants vs zombies and expecting a 6 hour long immersive campaign. the fact people buy it just entices them to make more, the more they make the more valuable the francise and their series becomes, even if they make the game in a month for 25cents because people will buy it anyway, even if we dont the console peasants will.

unfortuneately this is the way the market (and hardware) is going, we might aswell get consoles in 10 years time unless things change.

if you really like the game buy a pentium k and overclock it, they're cheap enough to be disposable or purely for games like this^

or

overclock like hell

Hey,

So I recently purchased a GTX 970, and put it in a system that has an AMD A10 6800k CPU.

I am getting pretty poor performance in BF4 for example, and I seem to be able to only run it on medium to get 60FPS.

Is there something else going on? Or does my CPU lacking enough juice to keep up with the GPU, in which case i guess i need to upgrade...

Your CPU is bottlenecking it... Your best bet is to go Z96.

An 860K Would be the best if you don't want to change your MoBo (Someone back this up)

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Yup, sounds like a CPU bottleneck.

GTX 970 can easily peak 100FPS on BF4 at 1080p

It is the CPU that is the bottleneck.

Use the Medium pre-set as base, And move Textures and AA to the highest and you may have a pretty balanced load, Boom no bottleneck.

A Athlon for the FM2/FM2+ socket is the same as a A10, Just without the Graphics processing. So the performance difference would be minimal, If there even would be a difference.

You could probably overclock the A10 a fair bit if you are up to it to gain about 10% if not more performance.

Im using the stock cooler for my A6 6400k and i never reach over 60 degrees with a overclock from 3.9Ghz to 4.4ghz.

Source?

Benchmarks I watched like 2 weeks ago. I will see if I can dig the same ones up again.

Alright cool - seems like it's time for an uprgade lol...

If you have an aftermarket cooler, try overclocking and see if that helps. If you don't have an aftermarker cooler, overclock to the highest you can but stay on stock voltage.

Yeah maybe i could try that... it has a decent aftermarket cooler on it and only hits 44 degrees under full load.

If you are going to change the CPU anyways there isnt really any downside to overclocking it according to me.

You reached the lowest point with that video.

He is not a reputable person. 9 subscribers. Not a pro.

He may be lying or yeah...

Doesn't matter. I'm convinced.

2 reputable sources vs. Some unreputable source?

Yeah I'm convinced also...

Chances are those 'reputable' people aren't overclocking like I have. I get 100+ fps in battle field 4, I have a very similar setup to that in the video I linked. So yeh.
