$1000 Laptop Suggestions

Hey all,

 

I am looking at getting a new laptop within the next month or so, with a budget of around $1000 USD.

 

Some specs that I am looking for are:

• At least a 128 GB SSD for the OS plus a mass storage HDD
• Preferably a 15 inch screen (1080p is fine)
• The thinner and lighter, the better
• Discrete graphics is not required, but will be a plus

I would like to do some light gaming on it and video editing, but it is not vital.

 

Note:  These are just what I prefer, and I am up for changes and other suggestions.

The Lenovo Y series are pretty good, they aren't the lightest laptops ever but they do have good specs for the price:

I've had one in the past and it ran games fine and I used Sony Vegas for video editing on it.

 

Edit:

The y40 is the only one around 1000 with an SSD, its 512Gb.

I will have to look into these a little more.  Also, my Uni gets a discount with Lenovo, so I probably can get a good buy.
