Hi guys! I wanna play an mmo. I immediately gravitated towards WoW, but that's way too expensive after LV 20. Can anybody recommend a good mmorpg with a storyline and varied attacks? Also, overprotective parents... Little to no blood, gore, and sex references plz.

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

I'll second GW2. I had a blast with that game.

Isn't that not free?

I said that GW2 was crap I'll now elaborate on that statement as you have mentioned overprotective parents. From an overview, GW2 brings nothing new to the table what so ever. Worse still it's based on lies; they had originally told the masses that they would revolutionize MMOs, bringing them back to the old core values that existed 20 years ago. These essentially being the removal of the quest mechanism and the reintroduction of community focus. It did none of these, all it featured was a differently wrapped quest engine and a delayed introduction of the micro transaction pay2win model. Moreover it still features one time only time limited content.

Yes it all makes for a wonderful and highly successful business model. But it's just that at the end of the day, it's a model aimed at enabling addiction to the game and dependency on the micro transaction. Despite whatever one initially intends or believes about sticking to 'casual play' one will ultimately find that they will end up isolated and 'left far behind' all other players, often being unable to progress in the game unless they succomb to the model and devote 100% of their time and resources to it. These games will destroy you, your life and all of those that care about you, stay away and find something more linear. One can akin these games to hard drugs and there's plenty of research to back this premise up.

I may well be guilty of some personal bias as I went through an addiction in my early life. In those days parents were not aware of the incredible risk of addiction that comes with MMOs... they were simply either tech illiterate, lacked awareness or were a combination of both.

I hope for your sake that your parents read this.

Well when you find it, let me know because I have spent the last 10 years of my life looking for such a game.
