Holy Mother of ARM CPUs!!!!! :)

 

 

74 degrees on the socket is not good, as well as 65 on cores.

70 is max for socket, and 62 for cores (recommended anyways)

 

My first advice, since you probably have the stock AMD heatsink, is to detach its fan and mount it as i've shown you in the last post. It will greatly help with socket temps.

 

As for the cores....it seems like a better cooler is needed...

 

The first thing that crosses my mind now is tweaking the BIOS a bit, lower the voltages and even core clock if you have to...

Should not be running that hot, certainly on stock clocks.

I had a fx8350 on that same motherboard for some time with a similar air cooler, never ran hotter as 60c on socket. Room temperature was 28c at that moment (summer).

 

As said above, try re-applying the thermal paste, might fix a lot. Or at least is one of the possible solutions.

But be careful, those sockets are freaking sensitive.

 

 

 

Also..what the fuck...USB 3.0 1 64 degrees???! That software seems really stupid... 

 

 

 

@op: What case are you using? Good airflow? Enough fans (in-out) ? I do not remember it (usb) ever going over 40c to be honest, in the same software.

Ive got a Define R4 with 2 Sp120's in the front, and the stock 140 fan out the back. The cooler im using is the Coolermaster 612 with an SP120 on it

Well find a fan that would fit behind the motherboard. There are some 50mm chipset fans on the market...

Of course it would.

Temps are determined by the voltage used

 

Start with 1.35V as this is considered stock. Test it out then with Prime or some games and see if you get bluescreens or freezes(weird stuff).

If it passes the tests, head back to the BIOS and lower the voltage again, this time step by step. As far as I know the scale is in steps of 0.0125V. 

Lower it one step, then go and test out again. Repeat the process until it becomes unstable. If it becomes unstable bump the voltage up one step.

 

If you're still experiencing high temps, you may need to lower the clock. After lowering the clock you can start lowering the voltage again with the procedure above. I just hope it won't be the case.

 

This is your best bet right now. 

My main advice, start gathering some money for a solid CPU cooler. You can go with Noctua's NH-D14, NH-D15 or the Corsair H80i if you want something a bit stylish.

Will now start with the undervolting, how long should i leave prime running whilst testing for bluescreens or freezes?

I will also have the money for a new CPU cooler on Christmas Day but as you can tell by my current case and low noise fans im looking for silence, so would you recommend the D15?

Should i be changing the actual CPU voltage to lower the temps?

I haven't got my hands on the NH-D15, but Noctua never disappointed when it comes to performance. Combine that with the fact that everybody says that the NH-D15 is an improvment over the NH-D14, and I wouldn't have any issues recommending it.

 

Still you can check on other's opinions, don't take mine as granted.

Will now run Prime 95 for about 30 mins to see how it copes
