So ive just been playing some Battlefield 4, when i tabbed out i got a notification from Asus Suite, saying that my V-Core 2 was hitting 80 degrees c..... Is this normal? Im not even sure what V-Cores are, so any information would be helpful!!

hmm I'm more worried about the cpu temperature, you shoud keep it under 63c if possible. Going over that can seriously reduce the lifetime of your cpu. vcore temps should go down as a result, too.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Just used AIDA and it reached 70....

He's most likely running an fx series chip so no big surprise it's hot. I wouldn't worry quite so much about the cpu temp on those exceeding around 70c (esp the 8350, and 9590), although they are hot and run hard its never a good idea to cook your gear for long periods of time.

AMD cpus can't take the same heat intel cpus can, by design (and because the die is larger, it's easier to dissipate). 72c is the max the cpu will take before throttling or shutting down to prevent damage, but even below that temperature the cpu suffers and its lifespan starts to shorten. It's a bit like running a intel cpu at 90c, you can do it without throttling, but it's a bad idea. If you're using the stock cooler with no overclock try cleaning it from dust, if it doesn't solve the problem reapply thermal paste or straight up get a better cooler (such as a CM hyper 212 evo)

That weird, my x6 1075t has been running upwards of 75c at max load for more than 3 years now without any issues (asides from me bending two entire f'ing rows of pins), never had any issues other than that though for all these years :l

Those temps are coming from the actual socket, the highest that my actual CPU has got is 70

For that 69 degrees temp. That's the socket temp. That has nothing to do with the cooler's capabilities directly.Indirectly it has, because if the package(cores) heats up, part of the heat spreads to the socket.

I recommend installing a fan on the back of the motherboard.(I don't have any idea where the hell did I put the photo, but i'll shoot one and upload it in a couple of minutes)

As for that V-Core. Judging by your screenshot it seems that that's the VRM temp, and it's damn high.

Is your CPU overclocked?

I'm quite surprised with those temps on the Sabertooth.

I was spinning back and forth between Sabertooth and Killer(from ASRock), and I got the ASRock for aesthetics(i know, it sounds stupid) but it's really solid, and the temps are very low, apart from the NB which stays at 63 degrees no matter what I do. But seeing that your Sabertooth is just 61 makes me confident :D

Can you post some screenshots from other monitoring softwares(i.e. HWMonitor, Aida64,HWInfo)? I'm asking you that so we can see if there's some misread data from sensors.

Try reapplying thermal paste and celaning the cooler, there's something fishy here.

actually @TorqueS says it's the socket temperature so you are probably fine.

Not on a AMD Sabertooth but mine only gets that hot when running more than 1.4v

The socket temp is fine around 70 degrees. But i'm asking for HWmonitor screens because i'm not entirely sure of that "thermal radar" thingie.

If it was core temp, at 69 degrees it would have been throttling hard.So I'm assuming that's socket temp.

Also..what the fuck...USB 3.0 1 64 degrees???! That software seems really stupid...

which was my point indeed ^^ but with an aftermarket cooler and no oc it sounded very weird...

Let's wait for feedback.

I used HWmonitor afterwards and the packages actually hit 70, it only throttled down to 3114 every 20 seconds

Temps is what i'm interested in.

Meanwhile, as I said earlier here's what i did to lower the socket temps:

post-78575-0-16006800-1419353728_thumb.j post-78575-0-59142300-1419353732_thumb.j

And these are the results:

Without fan it reached 65 degrees after 11 mins, at this point i stopped the test.

post-78575-0-47024800-1419353787_thumb.p

With the fan it reached 57 degrees after 17 mins, and i decided it's enough for me.

post-78575-0-26664400-1419353785_thumb.p

The test are done in different days, as the date in the corner suggests, but the ambient temps are around 23-25 degrees in my room, so it is not so important in this case.

Will be waiting for your tests..

I think 10 minutes of Prime are enough.
