Why is my R7 260x performing better at 1080p with DX11 than at 720p with Mantle? is there a setting i have to mess with in catalyst controller

which game are you referring to?

 

 

it could be in game settings

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

BF4 I whent into the settings and since my PC is just barely over the minimum specs I lowered the resolution to 720p and changed the API over to Mantel since I have an AMD card but that just made the game lag real bad and crash so I whent into the settings threw the my documents and changed it back to 1080 but it was lagging even worse so I went back to DX11 and it was performing just fine with minimum lag. this was all on the same map by the way. I was trying to join a friend

Mantle can have the most randomized bugs.. it can work fine the next time.. and not fine the next time again...

 

Give it time or ditch it altogether until your next driver update.

Mantle helps the most when you've got a fast AMD GPU (like a 280 or better) limited by a slow CPU. Your R7 260X is probably already running at its limit in BF4 in DX11, so Mantle's CPU overhead reduction isn't going to do anything to help it.

 

Also, I've heard Mantle in BF4 has some issues with cards with < 3 GB of VRAM. That was awhile ago but I haven't heard if it's been resolved yet.

Really? I thought it was better for lower end and mid range cards
