Discounted from $500 until midnight, at this price it's probably worth getting over the 970's which typically come in at around $600-700 depending on model.

Rule No 1: Never buy asus 290(x)s. They have issues with the 290(x) boards because all they did was slap the cooler for 780 on the 290(x). Some of the heatpipes doesnt contact with the board itself. I would recommend you cancelling the order

If I do have major heating issues it's pretty easy to RMA as Computer lounge will do it directly for me.

Um... My Asus R9 290 arrived at my house today and I have no issues with that, yeah, it idles a little warm, but it only hits 70C at full load. That is actually impressive for a 290.

I know, I know, a majority of the people have it at load in the high 80s and 90s... Then idle in the 50s. So far I'm idling in the low 40s and my load is 70C so far. If I begin having issues, I'll just return it since Amazon has that 30 day return policy.

Because with pure currency conversion it costs over $400 then there shipping times and shipping costs, earliest it can arrive is the 30th and since it's over $400 I'd have to pay import tax on it do it's work out between $550 and $575 depending on shipping options.

At least I know that Amazon will except the return. Also, look, it isn't that bad with folding. It still has yet to get past 70C no matter what GPU intensive thing I throw at it. Not running F@H at med-high tonight, low due to updating games.

You're blessed to be living somewhere with a low ambient temperature where i live the ambient is 30 degrees on average every day of every year

Well I always like the cold, I usually try to keep my room really cold, right now it's like 60ishF in my room, maybe in the 70s. (15C to 21C) Just the winters are either a ton of snow, or really cold temps and tons of ice..

I honestly think I barely dodged a bullet with my 290, and the built in fan curve would have the fan speed in like the 48% range at 70C... Like, it'll stay until it hit's 70, ramp up, and just force it to stay at 70 no matter what load making the quieter operation pointless even though it is kind of loud right now.

Well this is my fan curve if it helps! (it is barely audible unless you shove your ear right on the case itself ) 

It idles at around 45 degrees C (my ambient is 31~ mind you ) and under load it goes around 83-85 degrees C! 

I cant hear it at all even tho i am sitting infront of my computer! (Mainly because i have my speakers on and my fan is blowing air towards me )
