I'm pretty sure that's the max current PSU can supply at given (usually 12V) voltage that's measured in Amperes (hence the shorter version - amps). It plays a major role in determining power of the PSU, since P=U*I (for example, a PSU capable of providing 100 amps at 12V will have the resulting power of 1200 watts).
