Kingston's HyperX Savage overclock

Go to solution Solved by logicalways,

I got it to boot at 2133mhz at 11-12-12-27 2T

Thanks for all your help. I'll run aida64 (it's all I have for testing) and see how it handles.

Just bought the new Hyperx Savage 32gig 1600Mhz CL9 1.5V quad kit (4x8) for my new build asus maximus formula vii + an Intel i7-4790k. I cant get the ram to go higher than the posted 1600Mhz xmp. I selected 1866mhz and my system turns on the shuts down and then Loops over and over. I'm running a corsair TX750 Watt psu and a single gtx 980. I can't find much info on this ram yet, I guess it's Still quite new. Any suggestions why it won't post over 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24?

when you increase the speed of your RAM

you might need to lower the CAS latency and bump up the voltage of the RAM

increase voltage to 1.65-1.7V

loosen up timings if it wont do 1866 cl9. most kits wont do 1866 cl9.  try something like 10-11-11-11 2t

good luck trying to OC your ram with all 4 dimms populated. some boards dont like this. i can say from experience the formula is not the best memory clocker.

id go right for 1.65V and disable xmp unless you want your cpu to hit 4.4ghz on all cores. then keep it enabled

Ok so instead of the xmp options in bios, I should manually set the timings? Should I start at 1.6v?

start with the CAS setting which ProKoN suggested

start with a slight increase of the voltage

that ram may hit 2400 11-13-13-13 @ 1.65V-1.75V.  if you dont try, you will never know.

its not worth overclocking ram in my opinion. 1600mhz cl9 does the job just fine
