As Linus states in a few of his videos "Always get a single better card instead of 2 or 3 weaker cards, with a few exceptions." In this case I would go with the 970 without even thinking as a lot of games don't even support sli at release or even at all. 

The biggest bottleneck is the Aussie internet..
