hi guys, thanks to Linus' video on two of the new haswell-e CPUs I noticed that the CPU I've already bought for my coming build (Intel Core i7-4790k) has a maximum # of PCIe Lanes is 16. As I've been wondering whether to get a GTX 970 in SLI or a single GTX 980 I was guessing I would go with the 970's, but will this CPU be a bottleneck due to lack of PCIe lanes? Is this a factor? Should I go with the single 980?

Simple answer: No.

Slightly longer answer: There have been plenty of tests done on this topic, and none of them have shown any sort of noticeable difference in real-world tasks (like gaming).

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems
