Hi guys I am getting a 6 pin graphic card but my power modular has a 8 pin for a graphic card will it work if i got a 6 pin to 8 pin cable. thanks

Yes it will work it's more or less two extra grounding pins, but on your PSU there should be some that separate into 6+2 pins, for the 6 pin on your GPU.

it is a msi r9 270 which uses a 6 pin power connector but the psu has a 8 pin power connector for the pci

The 8 pin is a 6+2 generally, even if it is strait 8 pin, it is keyed the same. All you have to do is plug it in and it will work. (that is assuming both are PCIe power, if you are using an EPS cable, it will not work and is keyed differently)

can you get a male 6+2 pin to 6 pin male connector or does the graphics card come with a special connector for that

Are you talking about something like this, most times it's the other way around going from 6 pin to 8(6+2) pin

Make absolute certain it's not an EPS cable, they use the same keying but are not always electrically compatible.

Cables for PCI-E devices are standardized as 6+2 or 6 pin cables. But with modular units it can make for better aesthetics to include solid 8 pin connectors.

What power supply do you have?
